₹1,500 Toll Pass To Benefit Eligible Local Commuters From November 1

Published: 27 October 2026 · 1 min read

What Happened

From November 1, 2026, eligible private vehicle owners living within 20 km of a National Highway toll plaza can opt for a concessional annual local pass. It will cost ₹1,500 a year for toll plazas outside municipal or local town limits and ₹3,000 for those within such limits. A valid, functional FASTag registered for non-commercial use is required. The pass will be valid only at the specific toll plaza for which it is issued. It won’t apply where a closed user-fee collection system operates or where a service/alternative road is available.

Key Takeaways

The new rules could significantly reduce toll costs for eligible residents who frequently cross a nearby toll plaza, but the ₹1,500 rate is not universal. Some eligible users will pay ₹3,000 depending on the toll plaza’s location.
