Published: 27 October 2026 · 1 min read

What Happened

The Maharashtra Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has approved 11 amendments to the Public-Private Partnership Policy 2026 aimed at simplifying approvals and accelerating infrastructure projects. The revised framework includes ₹200 crore in Viability Gap Funding for FY2026-27 and removes one layer of scrutiny by the Network Planning Group for in-principle approvals. Projects involving government assistance, land or premiums up to ₹25 crore will require Empowered Committee approval, while projects of ₹25 crore and above will go to the Cabinet Infrastructure Committee based on the Empowered Committee’s recommendation.

Key Takeaways

The changes aim to speed up PPP project approvals while introducing asset monetisation to unlock value from public land and buildings that may not be commercially viable under conventional PPP models.
