ACs, TVs, and Appliances to Cost Up to 8% More From October 1

Published: 27 September 2026 · 1 min read

What Happened

From October 1, 2026, major consumer electronics and appliance makers will raise prices of air-conditioners, LED TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines by 5–8%, citing surging costs of copper, steel, aluminum, plastics, and crude derivatives, along with currency volatility linked to the West Asia crisis. Blue Star confirmed AC and deep freezer prices are up 5–8%. Godrej Appliances announced hikes of 5–7% across categories, calling them “inevitable.” Haier India will raise AC prices by 5% from October, with further hikes planned in December and January, totaling 15% cumulatively. Daikin India already raised prices by 8–10% from mid-September. Super Plastronics (Thomson, Kodak, Blaupunkt TVs) will increase TV prices by 7% post-October. LG and Bosch Home Comfort (Hitachi ACs) confirmed AC price hikes of around 5%. This marks the third round of price hikes in 2026, following earlier increases in January and June. Dealers note that festive demand may not be immediately impacted, as old-price inventory stocked in August–September will cover sales through Diwali.

Key Takeaways

Consumers may still find pre-hike inventory during Diwali sales, but prices will rise sharply afterward. The hikes reflect global commodity inflation and supply chain pressures, making appliances costlier heading into 2027.
