What Happened

1945: Sukarno formally declared Indonesia's independence from the Netherlands. 1943: Allied forces completed the conquest of Sicily during World War II. 1988 – Zia-ul-Haq, Pakistan's military ruler, was killed in a mysterious plane crash near Bahawalpur. The event dramatically altered Pakistan's political trajectory and remains one of South Asia's biggest political mysteries.
