What Happened

1787 (U.S. Constitution): Thirty-nine delegates officially signed the United States Constitution at the Philadelphia Convention, setting up the framework for the American federal government. 1862 (Battle of Antietam): The bloodiest single day in American military history occurred during the Civil War, as Union and Confederate forces clashed at Antietam, resulting in over 22,000 casualties. 1950 (India Recognises Israel): The Government of India formally granted diplomatic recognition to Israel, an important milestone in India's foreign policy. 1960 (Indus Waters Agreement Reached): India and Pakistan reached an agreement on sharing the waters of the Indus River system, paving the way for the later Indus Waters Treaty.
