1920 – Women Win the Right to Vote in the United States 2020 – Military Coup in Mali, Soldiers overthrew President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, triggering political upheaval in the West African nation. 1964 – South Africa Banned from the Olympics due to its apartheid policies, marking a major international stand against racial segregation. 1868 – Discovery of Helium, French astronomer Pierre Janssen, while observing a solar eclipse from India, identified a new element in the Sun's spectrum. It was later named Helium, becoming the first element discovered outside Earth.
