What Happened
1948: Hyderabad Joins India The Indian Army accepted the surrender of the Nizam's forces, bringing an end to Operation Polo and integrating the princely state of Hyderabad into the Indian Union. 1967: English Becomes Official Language of Nagaland Nagaland adopted English as its official language, a unique distinction among Indian states. 2016: Uri Terror Attack Four terrorists attacked an Indian Army brigade headquarters in Uri, Jammu & Kashmir, killing 19 soldiers. The attack led to India's subsequent surgical strikes across the Line of Control. 1810: Chile officially declared its independence from Spain, beginning its path as a sovereign nation. 1931: The Mukden Incident occurred when Japanese troops staged a railway explosion in Manchuria, using it as a false pretext to launch a full-scale invasion of northeastern China.
