"1777: First Battle of Saratoga: In a crucial turning point of the American Revolutionary War, American forces under General Horatio Gates engaged British troops led by General John Burgoyne in New York. 1983: Independence of Saint Kitts and Nevis: The Caribbean islands officially gained full independence from the United Kingdom. 2006: Military Coup in Thailand: The Royal Thai Army overthrew the elected government of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra while he was abroad. 1960: Indus Waters Treaty Signed India and Pakistan signed the landmark Indus Waters Treaty in Karachi, with mediation from the World Bank. The agreement governs the sharing of the Indus river system and remains one of the world's most enduring water-sharing treaties. 2000: Karnam Malleswari Creates Olympic History Karnam Malleswari became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal, claiming bronze in weightlifting at the Sydney Olympics. This remains one of India's most celebrated sporting achievements."
