What Happened

2014 – India's Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan) entered Mars orbit. India became the first country to reach Mars on its maiden attempt. 1932 : Mahatma Gandhi and B.R. Ambedkar signed the Poona Pact, agreeing on reserved seats for the depressed classes (Dalits) in British India's legislature. 1947: Pakistani tribal raiders invaded Kashmir. Marked the beginning of the first India-Pakistan conflict over Jammu & Kashmir, just weeks after Partition. 1974: Guinea-Bissau declared independence from Portugal.
