1984: Indian Army Withdraws from Golden Temple. Repairs to the Akal Takht following Operation Blue Star were completed, and the Army withdrew from the complex. 1513: Spanish explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa reached the Isthmus of Panama and became the first European to sight the Pacific Ocean. 1957: U.S. Army troops escorted the Little Rock Nine into Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, marking a major turning point in the racial integration of American public schools. 1916: Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Born. The political thinker and philosopher who propounded the concept of "Integral Humanism" was born in Rajasthan. His birth anniversary is observed as Antyodaya Diwas.
