No Screen, No Microphone: Deepinder Goyal's New AI Device Aims to Replace Smartphones
What Happened
Deepinder Goyal, founder of Temple and former CEO of Eternal, has unveiled Temple, a forehead-worn AI and health-tracking wearable that he describes as “humanity’s last personal device”. Unlike conventional wearables, it has no screen, camera or microphone. Instead, it uses sensors to detect vibrations from the user's voice and convert them into text for AI interactions. The device is designed to offer features such as personal assistance, reminders, note-taking and health monitoring. Its first version, Temple 01, is expected to ship in 2027, with a reported price of ₹85,000.
Key Takeaways
Temple signals an attempt to move personal technology beyond smartphones towards screen-free, AI-powered devices. Its microphone-free communication technology and health-monitoring capabilities make it distinctive, but its success will depend on accuracy, practical usefulness, scientific validation of health features and whether consumers are willing to pay its premium price.
