SC Allows Green Crackers On November 7-8, Full Ban Returns November 9

Published: 2 November 2026 · 1 min read

What Happened

The Supreme Court has permitted certified green firecrackers in Delhi-NCR on November 7 and 8, but only between 6-7 am and 8-10 pm. The complete firecracker ban will resume from November 9. Crackers cannot be burst within 300 metres of hospitals, nursing homes, health centres, old-age homes, educational institutions and notified silence zones. Only green crackers certified by CSIR-NEERI and produced by manufacturers with valid PESO licences are permitted. Barium-containing and conventional crackers remain prohibited.

Key Takeaways

This is a limited two-day relaxation, not a lifting of Delhi-NCR’s firecracker restrictions. Only certified green crackers can be used during specified hours and locations, with the blanket ban returning on November 9.
