WhatsApp now lets non-users join calls through a link
What Happened
WhatsApp has introduced Guest Calling, allowing people without a WhatsApp account to join voice or video calls using an invitation link. A registered user creates the link, while guests can open it on a computer browser, enter their name and request access without downloading WhatsApp or creating an account.
Key Takeaways
Guest calls are free, end-to-end encrypted and support up to 32 participants. Guests remain in a waiting room until approved by the host and cannot see other participants’ phone numbers, send messages or add people to the call.
